Politically incorrect

I was surprised and pleased that President Arroyo finally broke her silence. I have faith in her that she was honest and sincerely asking for the understanding and forgiveness of the people. Although in her speech, what I was looking for was her assurance that there was no manipulation or incorrect results of the May 2004 elections. She also did not mention who exactly was the COMELEC Official she was talking to.

This will not be the end but only the beginning of a new issue. Because of her admission, everybody knows that there is indeed a TAPE, that is her voice, and she was indeed talking to a COMELEC Official. I think that due to her actions she broke a law, and should face the consequences. Senator Pimentel says she should resign and step down, while Senator Drilon thinks that for the President to admit it and apologize to the public is already a big thing. I should say, it was indeed a humble act for her to apologize and admit it to the public that she was wrong, I also feel she was sincere, but of course being the President isn’t an excuse; it isn’t a privilege to be absolved. It only makes her more responsible, because the people who voted for her expect an honest leader. Kaya nga ikaw ang Presidente. Her lack of judgment only made her less credible and flaws like this couldn’t just be forgotten and forgiven by public apology and admission.

I don’t know much about the legalities of the matter but I don’t think it is best to oust her, have a snap election or have another revolution. I think we have so much of that in our history. It only makes our economy weak, makes our country look weak. I cannot also think of any other person who could be our next President.

It makes me think that this is the second time the elected President has been subjected to dishonest governance. Is it our lack of judgment in voting a President? Or is it our morals that should be questioned?

The devil in me couldn’t help but wonder… Why did the President needed to call that COMELEC official personally? She could have just asked someone else to make that call since she’s the President, right? Just like President’s Estrada’s alleged Jeuteng payola, why didn’t he keep the money some place else?

too sweet for me

i don't really have a sweet tooth, compared to my dad and for some people that i know. but for some reasons i think i'm gonna have a sore throat because of eating too much chocolate. It started when my mom's friend gave us Meiji Macadamia Chocolates. Hay! super sarap! I finished 1 box in just one seating. Then today, when Jog dropped by, he gave me more chocolates!

i was checking on my calendar, and damn! I'm leaving next next saturday! yup. it's final, although i was able to have an extension of just a few weeks, i just can't believe that next next saturday, I will not sleep on my bed, not be able to talk to jog before going to sleep and gossip around with my roomate. time flies.

i'm so attached to all that i have here.i just hope i won't get home sick as soon as i arrive there. i hope there would be no airport dramas and i hope everything that i have planned to do before i leave will push through without hassles.

I had my "last Wai Ying" (until December) last saturday with my family. I don't think i will be able to taste such good chinese food anywhere else. I will miss Hakaw and their siomai.

Hay naku! FOOD nanaman!!!

will write before i leave.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

It’s so hard to write about those close to your heart, so I’ll just make this simple and short.

22 years ago, this man’s life changed. He became a young father at 18.

Today, he is the father of 3 children. And for those 3, he is their Handyman and their favorite person to make fun of. And he’s ok with that.

A lot say I look a lot like him. My mom says we have a lot of things in common, in terms of our attitude. There are times that I resent that, but when I think about it is true.

I remember him saying, fathers should not be troubled about their daughters decision with the men they will be with…cause what always happen is that daughters look for men who are like their dads.

I think so too, but if I am so like my dad, I shouldn’t be looking for another me. Rather, I should look for someone like my mom with whom my papa has found a great companion.

So, even if there are times that he’s not my favorite person in the world. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to my papa, who will always be the first man I have loved.

Buding, Dondi, Mama, and I LOVES YOU!!!!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY also to:

Lolo Tony
Lolo Pinong
Tito Mike
Tito Jojo
Tito Willy
Kuya Derek
Tito Leonard
Tito Arnel
Tito Joseph
Tito Rommel
Tito Roy
NiƱo
Allen
Jeff

And to all the fathers who will be able to read this.

Movie Lines

I love movie lines. I think everyone comes to that point where your whole life becomes a movie line. Or sometimes you live by it, or you suddenly try to find something or someone in your life that you could connect to a movie line. It becomes a part of our lives and beliefs. It can either make or break you.

During Jerry Maguire’s peak, every man was saying “You complete me”. It all made us all awww, but the truth is, before we all go into a relationship, we should be as “complete” as we could be. I liked that line, but then I realized having someone “complete” you doesn’t really work.

There was the Julia Roberts line in My Bestfriend’s Wedding I held onto for a year. There was also the poem in 10 things I hate about you, that I spent hours researching on the internet. And just like the Jerry Maguire line, I outgrew the line, or life has just thought me that this is real life and I’m not a movie star.

Troy Dyer of Reality Bites made me like bad looking boys with wits. Ethan Hawke’s character gave a justification to that generation. I have a lot of favorite lines in that movie, specially when Winona Ryder asked her to define irony, and Troy immediately answered.

There are hundreds of movie lines we all loved, shared, and related to. And I think that’s why we still love romantic movies even if we know it has the same endings. Movie lines make us feel good and give us even just a tiny chance that it could happen to anyone.

Any movie, whether good or bad will always be remembered by striking and easy-to-relate-to movie lines that we all love.

P.S.

I would definitely recommend “Nasaan ka man”. The movie was a great break from all the usual Tagalog Romantic Movies yearly produced. Diether Ocampo’s performance cannot be ignored. I think this is the first time I’ve seen him this good.

"let's talk about sex"

I have done nothing but insignificant things this past week and i'm not complaining. i think i'm just enjoying the time i have left before leaving. My mom managed to extend my stay and I'm not leaving this month.yey! but still its not long enough till jog's bday.

Speaking of Bdays, my newest inaanak was born last Tuesday. Nynna Venice ( i hope i'm right), first born of my good friend Vanessa. and I don't think I will be here in her Christening, unless they'll do it on December.

Jog and I watched a lot like love last tuesday, and I must say Ashton is wow! i specially like the part when he sang "i'll be there for you, these 5 words i say to you" with the electric guitar and all. hay! It reminded me of the Sassy Girls' definition of fate...Fate is making a bridge of chance for your love. Thanks Jeni for recommending the movie. So if you havent seen it, you better do. the movie is good. For me it was a good movie and spending time with the boyfriend.

Last night, Porli and I watched Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Porli and I couldn't help but adore and say "GWAPO" for every scene of Mr. Pitt! hehehe And ngayon ko lang napansin Angelina's lips...

so there, Ive done nothing but Bum around.

moving forward?

Why does it seem that everytime i tell close friends that I am going some place this month they are all "Whoa! Good for you!"

And these past few days that I've been catching up with friends, trying to make up for the lost time, and trying to spend the time i have left, they all seem to be happy and they say it's great news.

It is. really. but first everyone should know that its not for vacation but for a family emergency's sake. it seems like, everyone thinks that it would be fun fun fun! lalalala! opportunity! i mean, Im going there to help my Tita. Although, yah, its an opportunity to travel, travel alone and be in the place i love since the first time i saw it. but hey its not all wows and ahhs!

a friend was telling me, that i could get a job, and apply for a working visa maybe stay there for good and im like, wait! i am not going there for employment.

i know, it's an opportunity and who knows, but my main purpose and only goal is to help my dear tita, who has been good to me and my family. yes, maybe if an opportunity rises, well, why not? i know a lot of people who'd do anything to be given a chance to work there. but if it will defeat my purpose, i wouldn't think twice in dropping it.

and has anyone thought of the family i'll be leaving here?

i know, this is not the country some of us would choose to be part of right now with all the crises were in. but i don't think leaving the country is the solution. i don't think that moving forward means moving forward to a different place, a different country.

i mean, it's not so bad. i may sound so patriotic but what's so bad about that?

and i remember the paper i submitted to my teacher in ENGCOM1, about the SONA of former President Estrada, he wrote a note saying..."What have you done lately?"
because in my paper i wrote that although, He had so many plans undone, he should not be solely blamed for our country's situation.

so, i might be leaving Manila for a while, but I am definitely coming back to my home..
